"Truth, justice and a better tomorrow!"

Are you the new superhero of your industry ?

Having experienced Agile coach training with Superheroes Academy (highly recommended!) - experienced coaches like Brock Argue, Erkan Kadir, and Sharon Hoiland help bring a new level of awareness with tools and support to help individuals, teams and organisations.

Now, with the impending wave of AI, entire industries are looking for awareness on the possible outcomes of new tech, support to apply it and tools to integrate it. While the news is full of contrasting messages of fear and excitement. Focus is easily swayed towards fear rather than embracing the exciting change, and naturally...change, by its very nature, can lead to uncertainty and fear.

That's where Agile leaders and coaches can play an evolutionary role - finding the positive, ethical outcomes of AI change and leading the way forward will be essential in how we minimise negative human impact.

Recently, AI creators - Dr. Geoffrey Hinton and Prof. Yoshua Bengio, warned us about the potential dangers of unchecked AI. They're worried about AI being misused for harm, or AI making harmful decisions on its own. Bengio calls for strict rules, similar to those in sectors like car manufacturing or pharmaceuticals.

Almost in direct reaction the European Commission proposed the first EU regulatory framework for AI. It says that AI systems that can be used in different applications are analysed and classified according to the risk they pose to users. The different risk levels will mean more or less regulation. Once approved, these will be the world’s first rules on AI. Last week, on 14 June 2023, MEPs adopted Parliaments negotiating position on the AI Act. The talks will now begin with EU countries in the Council on the final form of the law.

As the first of its kind worldwide, this framework is set to bring about shifts in how we approach AI, analysing and classifying AI systems according to their risk level to users. Agile coaches can play a pivotal role, not just in steering organisations through this change, but in instilling risk management practices to align with the AI's risk potential. Compliance and ethics, already an integral part of AI deployment, will assume greater significance, calling on coaches to encourage an ethical mindset and ensure regulatory alignment. It will be very important to stay aware of compliance in industry and distribute information about new AI rules to team members through teaching and training.

While adhering to regulations is important, we shouldn't view it as our sole focus. Instead, we can harness AI as a catalyst for positive change, encouraging growth, innovation and discovery. In this context, we find a chance to inspire cultural shifts towards more evolutionary outcomes, as suggested by Frederik Laloux in his book "Reinventing Organisations". By doing so, we're not just looking at profitability, but focusing on driving progress with a positive human impact. This mindset aligns with Laloux's perspective on the purpose of organisations, which transcends profitability and anchors in value creation for all stakeholders.

Agile coaches are ideally placed to guide organisations and help industry growth through the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Laloux's book, talks about a modern type of company he refers to as "teal organisations." These companies promote self-management, ensuring everyone takes responsibility for their work, and wholeness, creating an environment where everyone can be their full selves.

With AI transforming industries, the principles of teal organisations are even more vital. We have an opportunity to encourage companies with the changes brought by AI, to align with broader goals that benefit both our society and environment. In doing so, we won't only be creating more productive workplaces, but we'll also be working towards a future where technology and human needs harmoniously coexist. Agile coaches are ideally placed to guide organisations and influence industry sectors through the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Superman stands for truth, justice, and a better tomorrow

Just as Superman stands for truth, justice, and a better tomorrow, Agile coaches can serve as superheroes in their own right, by upholding empiricism, ethics, and continuous improvement.

Empiricism brings awareness to leverage decisions in complex environments based on what is observed and known, rather than what is predicted or assumed. This promotes truth and transparency, much like Superman's commitment to truth.

Ethics guide Agile Coaches to act with integrity and fairness, fostering an environment of respect and trust. This mirrors our heroes' dedication to justice.

Finally, the commitment to continuous improvement drives Coaches to always seek better ways of doing things, to learn, and to adapt - a better tomorrow.

These principles not only help Agile coaches guide teams effectively but also contribute to a healthier and more productive organisational culture.

Like the superheroes we admire in comics and movies, Agile leaders and coaches can make a profound difference in their respective industries right now. In the context of our industrial revolution and to limit disruption, this is the time to put on your costume and fly to action.
